Wildlife in Acrylics - 2nd March 2012

2ndMarch2012
Despite the foggy evening the members of the Teignmouth Art Society packed the Teign Heritage Centre on Friday 2 March 2012 to hear the fascinating talk from local wildlife artist Mike Hughes.

Mike, originally from Lancashire, trained as a Wildlife illustrator at Blackpool College and now works as an illustrator for wildlife and conservation organisations , producing posters, brochures and field guides. He explained how the majority of his work is hand painted but that recently he has been using computer techniques to work digitally, giving flexibility, and allowing for elements within the picture to be moved and reformatted, and for the final work to be produced in multiple sizes but still retain their sharpness. Mike showed his recent work where he has moved into painting individual pieces in acrylics and oils but still capturing the essence of birds and British wildlife.
