Cultural Strategy For Teignbridge 2003 - 2008
Why produce a Cultural Strategy?
The government has urged all local authorities to prepare cultural strategies in association with the voluntary and private sector.
The guidance recommends that the strategy is not just an action plan for the local authority (although there are actions which the local authority will undertake) but for all those involved in culture within the area.
What is in the Strategy?
The strategy comprises of 4 main sections:-
1. An Introduction to the Cultural Strategy.
2. Setting the Scene - includes the definition of culture (arts, play, sports, heritage, countryside, events and tourism - see page 4 for the full definition) and provides the strategic framework.
3. The Cultural Vision for Teignbridge - discusses the emerging themes from consultation and develops them into 3 key themes for the district.
4. Making it happen - The suggestion of a Cultural Partnership to take the strategy forward.
