Home Composting
Composting is Nature's way of recycling and helps to reduce the amount of biodegradable waste we send to landfill. By composting kitchen and garden waste with your own home composter you can easily improve the quality of your soil and be well on your way to a more beautiful garden. Or in other words, your garden waste ends up back where it started, in the garden, and means you've completed the recycling loop!

To help you get the most out of your compost bin we are giving away a free bag of wood chip with every home compost bin purchased and collected from our Forde Road Offices (offer does not apply to composters delivered). Wood chips are slow to rot, provide carbon & fibre and allow air pockets to form, all of which are essential in producing good quality compost.
We will also give you a free copy of the 'Compost for All' guide when you purchase a home composter from us.
Compost bins are for sale from the Council Offices and can be collected from the Forde Road Depot, Forde Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4AD. If you would like a compost bin to be delivered please contact 01626 215838 and place an order.

How about a Wormery?
If you don't have a big enough garden for home composting, why not consider a Wormery instead? A Wormery is a home for tiger worms, that can turn cooked and uncooked food leftovers (plus things like toilet roll tubes, egg boxes and paper towels) into a rich compost and an excellent liquid feed. Wormeries come in many sizes, and are easy to use. Follow the offsite link to Original Organics to find out more about Wormeries.
