Current restricted access to Teignbridge's beaches:

Due to recent storm damage to the railway and seawall, some sections of the beach and walkways are not accessible to the public. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that areas will return to normal as quickly as possible.

Affected areas:

Teignmouth

Teignmouth seawall from the Yacht Club to Holcombe is closed although the public toilets are open as usual. Smugglers Lane and access onto the beach at Holcombe is also closed. Teignmouth beach is open and access along the beach up to Sprey point is possible at low tide but please stay away from the sea wall where repair works are ongoing.

Dawlish Town Beach

The main beach at Dawlish is now open however repair works are ongoing in some locations, please take extra care and adhere to all warning signs. There is no access along the beach or seawall after Coastguard Steps as repair works are continuing. Access to Dawlish Warren is possible via the footbridge at Coastguards and along the higher section of the South West Coast path along the main road. You will then need to go over Blackbridge onto the sea wall to Dawlish Warren.

Boat Cove and Coryton Cove

These beaches are now open. The public toilets at Boat Cove are also open. Unfortunately Rockpool cafe is closed due to a fire.

Dawlish Warren beaches

Are all open, but access onto and off the beach between groynes 5-9 may be difficult at high tide due to loss of sand from the dunes. The sea wall is now open from the footbridge by the car park to Blackbridge. Red Rock Beach is now open. Access to Dawlish will still be possible via Blackbridge and along the higher section of the South West Coast path along the main road.

Dawlish Warren beaches are open as normal.
