Decoy Country Park, Newton Abbot

A Green Flag Award winning country park on the edge of Newton Abbot.

Description
Decoy Country Park provides an opportunity to enjoy formal playing fields and a large children's play area with a water play feature. Other popular amenities include a lake supporting water sports activities and a deciduous woodland with a trim trail incorporated into it.

Decoy was once a clay quarry but now supports a wealth of wildlife, with the main habitats being ponds, streams, fen, wet woodland and heath woodland. Parts of the Country Park are either a County Wildlife Site (CWS) or a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The Park provides opportunities for quiet countryside recreation such as walking, wildlife watching, duck feeding and picnics, with good wheelchair and pushchair access.  Educational facilities are provided at the Decoy Discovery Centre.

The Friends of Decoy Country Park meet through the year to discuss future management decisions and improvements to the Park.

Decoy Country Park is on the south-east edge of Newton Abbot and is 'brown-signed' on the Newton Abbot exit from the A380 Penn Inn roundabout; the main entrance is on Decoy Road.

Travel
By car – A pay & display car park is situated beyond the main entrance and has parking for 90 cars. Free car parking can be found off Coach Road, adjacent to the football pitches.

By bus – Local bus service No. 75 stops at the Park entrance and can be caught from Newton Abbot town centre. For more information on timetables visit www.traveline.info

By train – Newton Abbot train station is approximately half a mile from the Park. Train times can be found at www.traveline.info

By bicycle – The Park is within a 15 minute cycle ride from much of Newton Abbot. Bicycle racks can be found outside the children's play area.
