Council budgets and spending

Accountancy Services record, monitor and co-ordinate the Authority's finances. We provide a treasury management function, account for the Council's fixed assets and process waybill income analysis. We provide payment of creditors and administer insurance claims.,

  • Annual Audit & Inspection Letters
    These documents provide an overall summary of the Audit Commission's assessment of the Council, drawing on audit, inspection and performance assessment work.

  • Annual Efficiency Statements
    The government has set up a reporting system so that two annual efficiency statements must be submitted each year. This system is now being replaced by a National Performance Indicator to measure the achievement of the ongoing value for money gains.

  • Annual Reports & Statement of Accounts
    The Council's accounts for the year provide information on the resources generated and consumed by the authority in the year and the financial position of the Council at the year end (31 March). The accounts continue to receive a 'clean' audit report which is also contained within the statements.

  • Approved Fees & Charges
    The Council sets charges for a range of services. Charges are normally set annually, approved as part of the budget process, and are effective for the financial year unless otherwise stated.

    Payment of invoices for all goods and services supplied to the Council.

  • Financial Plan 2007/2008 to 2009/2010
    The purpose of the Financial Plan is to set out how the Council will use its finances over the next three to five years to ensure it can meet its obligations set out in the Corporate Plan. This is good business planning, sound financial management and demonstrates the stewardship of public money.

  • Medium Term Financial Strategy
    The Medium Term Financial Strategy is produced as part of the budget process. The Strategy sets out how the Council arrived at the budget and the Council Tax level set for the current and proposed for the next two financial years.

    The summary statement of accounts provides information from the key statements within the full 'Annual Report and Statement of Accounts' and further information on our goals and Council Tax.
