The Localism and Decentralisation Bill
The much anticipated Localism Bill became the Localism Act 2011 on 15 November 2011 when the Bill received Royal Assent and moved onto the UK Statute Books.

The fact that the Bill has now become an Act of Parliament does provide a greater degree of certainty in many areas because we now know the legislative framework that will apply. However, large sections of the Act are dependent on later regulations being issued by the Secretary of State and are not therefore in force at present.
