5. Third Lockdown Business Grants - ARG

The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) provides local councils with grant funding to support:

  • businesses that are required to close (from 5 Jan 2021 onward) but which are not registered for business rates.
  • businesses (rated and non-rated) that have not been forced to close but which are severely impacted by the national restrictions (from 5 Jan 2021 onward). 

Businesses that were required to close but which ARE registered for business rates are not eligible for this scheme, as they are instead eligible for the LRSG (Closed) Addendum scheme.

A business that has been severely impacted will have to provide evidence of this. Our FAQ document explains what ‘severely impacted’ means and gives examples of how applicants can provide this evidence. 

Payment

Successful applications will receive a six week payment and may receive an access code letter in future to cover additional six week periods.  

We have now consumed our ARG top-up allocation, meaning those who applied for ARG on or after 13 March 2021 and/or those who failed to submit additional evidence prior to 17 March 2021, cannot be guaranteed a top-up grant of £2,000, £3,000 or £4,500 on top of their six week payment.
