Paying your Business Rates Bill
Ways to pay your Business Rate. Choose the method that suits you.
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay, simply complete and submit this online Business Rate - Direct Debit Mandate.
You can also set up a direct debit over the telephone by calling 01626 215 000. You will need your:
- Business Rates reference number
- Bank sort code and account number
- Name as shown on your debit card / cheque book

Your Direct Debit instalments will be set up as soon as possible. In accordance with the Direct Debit Guarantee scheme we will give you 10 working days' notice before the first instalment is taken out of your bank account.
This means the start date of your instalments may be delayed by one month. You can either make your first payment online, or we will spread the balance over the remaining months.

Direct internet payment
Straight from your bank to ours - sort code 30-84-67, account no 55853468, and quote your 8 digit business rate reference number.
To make sure your payment gets credited as quickly as possible, could you please enter your account reference number exactly as it appears.
Please do not include any spaces, dashes or text (for example please don't write 'Ref', 'Council Tax', or insert any initials.)
Correct Example: 00000000 Incorrect Examples: Ref 000 000 00 or 000-000-00
Entering your correct reference number means we can get your money straight to your account without delay, and avoids us having to contact you again.

Paying your bills online
Please note that the council will levy a surcharge of 1.7% on the total value of any payment made with a credit card. However no surcharge will be levied on payments made with a debit card.
Automated telephone payments system
Call 033 008 828 34 to pay your Business Rates using our 24/7 automated telephone payment system. Have your reference number and debit or credit card handy when you call.
You can pay your Council Tax at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet using the barcode printed on the front of your current Council Tax bill.

You will have to make arrangements directly with your Bank each year. Payment can take up to seven days to reach Teignbridge District Council after leaving your bank.
