12. Kickstart Scheme
You can use the Kickstart Scheme to create new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
Funding is available for 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.
Applying yourself
The Government has reformed the Kickstart scheme allowing businesses to apply directly (rather than through a Gateway) without the need to create at least 30 placements, as was previously the case.
Although we can still apply on your behalf, we are encouraging businesses to apply themselves to help speed up the process.
Applying through the council
If you would still prefer for Teignbridge to apply on your behalf, Teignbridge based businesses can register their interest with us via email.
Sole traders
An employer without a Companies House number can still apply, but can only apply via the Federation of Small Business. You do not need to be a member of the FSB to apply.
