7. Cemetery Fees

1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025

Fees apply to those who immediately prior to their death were residents within the district of Teignbridge. For non-residents the fees will be doubled.

Interment earthen graves
Stillborn to 4 years (infant grave) free of charge
5 years to 15 years free of charge
16 years and over; Up to 8ft (2.44m) initial or re-opening of a grave for triple, double or single depth interment £1,009

Purchase of Right of Burial (ROB) for graves and cremation plots

Adult’s grave (over 12 years) £1086

A grave or cremation plot may only be purchased in advance for a term of 20 years with the option of a 5 year extension after the 20 years. In most cases the next consecutive grave or cremation plot will be issued. Where a grave or cremation plot is purchased at the point it is needed for an interment the term of purchase is 50 years.  It is important to remember it is the Right of Burial that is purchased and not the land itself which remains in the ownership of the council.

Kerbed graves are no longer permitted

In accordance with Article 10 of the Local Authorities Cemeteries Order 1977 the Council may grant to any person the Exclusive Right of Burial in any grave and to the owner of such grave the right to place a memorial.

Search of burial/grave registers (except in the case of Funeral Directors and Solicitors making arrangements in respect of a death)  £46
