1. Who we are and what we do

Who we are

We are the Housing Enabling and Private Sector Housing Teams which are both divisions of the Housing Department within Teignbridge District Council. The Council is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a ‘data controller’ under the Data Protection Act, entry Z5463710.  We are a public authority and have a nominated Data Protection Officer who can be contacted on dataprotection@teignbridge.gov.uk.

This notice, in conjunction with our overarching privacy policy, explains when as a service we collect personal information, what we use your data for, who has access, who we share it with and what your rights are.

What we do

Housing Enabling Team

The Housing Enabling Team works with registered providers and developers to deliver new affordable homes together with our own direct housing delivery. Our work also includes provision for the Gypsy and Travelling Community.

Private Sector Housing Team

The Private Sector Housing Team enforces legislation in relation to the conditions of homes in the district. We carry out proactive work as well as responding to complaints from tenants and neighbours. We inspect and license houses in multiple occupation properties under Mandatory Licensing schemes. We also support landlords to ensure that all privately rented properties in Teignbridge are well managed and safe for their occupants.

We administer mandatory disabled facility grants as well as discretionary grants and loans and we make declarations for energy efficiency measures.
