7. How long do we keep hold of your information and is it secure?

Business rates (national non-domestic rates) began on 1 April 1990 and in some instances the amount of business rates that is payable can be reduced from this date if there is a change to the rateable value of the property. Consequently, in order to be able to refund any monies due, we keep the necessary records.
We have implemented appropriate technological and operational security in order to safeguard your data from loss or misuse.
Changes in your circumstances
You must notify us immediately if there are any changes in your personal details so we can maintain an accurate and up to date record of your information.
When we make an automated decision about your personal information
We may make automated decisions to end some time-limited reliefs and exemptions, to include small business rate relief following the result of a review undertaken by us in order to protect the public funds that we handle. You have a right of appeal against our automated decision-making.
