The Government has lifted most legal restrictions relating to Covid-19, removing social distancing requirements and social contact restrictions and enabling remaining businesses to reopen.
It is still possible to catch and spread COVID-19, even if fully vaccinated. It is important that everyone follows the remaining key protections:
- Testing when you have symptoms
- Self- isolating when positive or when contacted by NHS Test and Trace (until 16 August)
- Following government guidance
Although it will no longer be a legal requirement for people to wear face coverings after Monday 19 July, the advice for everyone is to continue to wear them especially when indoors and with other people who you don't normally meet, and in crowded spaces.
Whilst the Government is no longer instructing people to work from home if they can, it recommends a gradual return over the summer. The Government is also recommending that people wear face coverings in crowded areas, meet people outside where possible, let fresh air into buildings and minimise the number, proximity and duration of social contacts.
The Government has also published guidance for working safely in different types of workplaces.
Clinically extremely vulnerable
The government has updated its guidance on protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable to include advice on what to do to lower your risk of infection and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 once most legal restrictions end on Monday 19 July. NHS advice for people who are at high risk.
All adults in England have now been offered at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. If you have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine, you should get vaccinated now. You need two doses for maximum protection.
Testing and self isolation
It is important that we all have regular testing and follow the rules of self isolating if we test positive or have Covid-19 symptoms.
Anyone without symptoms should test regularly with a rapid latera flow test, and anyone with symptoms should isolate and arrange a PCR test.
