1. Equality in Teignbridge
How do we ensure we are providing a fair service to all?
The Council is committed to preventing discrimination, valuing diversity and achieving equality of opportunity. No person (employee, candidate or member of the public) will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of the nine protected characteristics as governed by the Equality Act 2010. These are:
- age
- disability
- race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
- religion or belief, including having no belief
- sex
- sexual orientation
- gender reassignment
- being married or in a civil partnership
- being pregnantor on maternity leave
In addition to these nine, the Council will not discriminate on the grounds of domestic circumstances, social-economic status, gender identity, political affiliation or trade union membership. We will not discriminate nor tolerate discriminatory behaviour.
We look at the social, economic, value and environmental impacts of key decisions through our Business Impact Assessment process.
