3. Quotations and tenders
For contracts up to £7,500
We seek quotations from a minimum of one supplier. Usually the individual departments will hold details of companies that are capable of supplying goods or services in their areas of work.
For contracts between £7,501 and £50,000
We seek quotations from a minimum of three suppliers using its electronic tendering portal called Supplying the South West. We will usually approach suppliers that individual departments know of and in most cases we will approach at least one supplier from the local area.
Contracts over £50,001 and below the EU threshold
These are advertised on our electronic tendering portal and on Contracts Finder and are subject to competitive tendering as per our contract procedure rules.
Contracts over the EU threshold
These are advertised on our electronic tendering portal, on Contracts Finder and in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Contracts of this value are subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
Mystery Shopper
Mystery Shopper is an anonymous service that lets suppliers raise concerns and highlight the barriers they encounter when bidding for government contracts.
- late payment
- unfair or overly bureaucratic tendering procedure
- tenders that do not comply with policy or legislation
The Mystery Shopper team will then work with the council to resolve concerns.
Before reporting an issue or concern to the Mystery Shopper service please contact us so that we have an opportunity to resolve the issue.
