Celebration time for Teignbridge's Sports Bug Project
Sports Bug is coming to Teignmouth, with a weekend packed full of fun, free activities and a big party celebration at the Den.
Celebrating the end of the three year Sports Bug project, the local community is invited to join in with the weekend of activities that will include Teignmouth Skate Jam and the Sports Bug celebration over the 12 and 13 August.
On Saturday, skaters of all ages are being invited to show off their skills and tricks with fun competitions on skateboard, scooter and BMX at The Den skate park. Sunday will bring the curtains down on the three-year project with a celebration day that will include a bouncy castle and other fun-filled activities.
Aimed at promoting and providing a wide range of activity choices that will enable people to start, stay and develop in physical activity, the Sports Bug project has delivered a rolling programme of sport and physical activity opportunities for all residents of West Teignmouth. The project has been financed through a grant secured by Teignbridge District Council from the Sport England Community Activation Fund.
Teignbridge’s Leisure officers will be helping out across the weekend and will be available to answer any questions.
Cllr Phil Bullivant, Teignbridge District Council’s executive for leisure and recreation said:
“Help us to celebrate the final events in our 3 year programme to help extend the chance of Sports and physical activity to the people of Teignmouth. A weekend of events are coming with exciting demonstrations from a number of sports, followed on Sunday with a special day of activities for all of the family to enjoy.
"Everyone in Teignbridge is welcome and we look forward to seeing you on the Teignmouth seafront over the weekend.”
