Stage set for Teignbridge’s glittering Sports and Community Awards 2018
Celebrating its 40th anniversary and with a public vote to decide the People’s Champion, Teignbridge’s Sports and Community Awards are set for a night to remember.
Returning to the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren on Friday 7 December, the awards are a highlight on the Teignbridge calendar and one of the largest events of its kind. The awards celebrate local sporting success and community projects across the district, recognising athletes, volunteers, sports teams, committee members, coaches, and community champions that go the extra mile to keep Teignbridge active all year round.
Teignbridge is proud of its long-term commitment to provide opportunities for healthy active lifestyles, outlined in the Council’s Ten Year Strategy. The wide range of leisure facilities, open spaces and events accessible to communities show that Teignbridge understands the importance of offering an array of inclusive and award winning leisure, sports and open space facilities that benefit local people.
Popular presenter Ben Moseby is making a welcome return to the event, which will be opened by the event’s headline sponsor and Managing Partner of Kitsons Solicitors, Nick Johnson. There will also be a charity raffle in aid of the Council's Chairman's Charity, which this year has been chosen by Cllr Avril Kerswell as the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust and Moorland Community Care Group.
In association with main sponsor Kitsons Solicitors and supported by media partners the Mid-Devon Advertiser, awards will be presented across 12 categories and culminating in the presentation of the People Champion’s award – as chosen by the public who can vote from 10am, Monday 3 December at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/sportscommunityawards
Event organisers are keen to wish all the nominees’ good luck in their categories and thank the sponsors involved with this year’s awards.

"We are grateful to our sponsors and thank them for the support they give to this event and also the Teignbridge staff who give their time to make this an evening to remember."
Nick Johnson, Joint Managing Partner at Kitsons Solicitors said:
“We are really looking forward to this year’s event, the evening is always inspiring and I am sure this year will be another one to remember. Many of our staff at Kitsons are keen sports people and therefore we like to take the sporting ethos of preparation, commitment and dedication and put those sporting qualities into the way we work.
