We have been asked by Ideford Parish Council to consider increasing the number of councillors on the parish council from seven, to eight or nine. The request from the Parish Council stated that an increase to the number of councillors would enable Ideford Parish Council to function more effectively and to distribute the workload of the parish more fairly and equally.

We have considered the request to increase the number of parish councillors. During the initial consultation stage 1 comment was received from a member of the public in support of the proposed increase and no objections, or other comments, were received.

A recommendation will therefore be put to a full meeting of Teignbridge Councillors to consider the following:

• To approve increasing the number of parish councillors on Ideford Parish Council by one.
