District and Parish Elections on Thursday 2 May 2019

Full elections to Teignbridge District Council and to all Town and Parish Councils within the Teignbridge area will be held on Thursday 2 May. A copy of the timetable is available. Other information and relevant notices will be displayed on this page as and when it is available, or is published.

In a number of areas the elections will be held on new boundaries and Teignbridge voters will be electing 47 councillors to 24 district wards. In the towns and parishes there will be a total of 409 seats to fill in 57 electoral areas.

Notices of Election

Anyone wishing to stand for election will be able to deliver their nominations from 9.30am on Tuesday 19 March until 4pm on Wednesday 3 April. If you are interested in standing for election you can find information on how to become a councillor.

How to vote

If you are not registered you have until Friday 12 April to apply.

Poll cards will be posted out on Monday 25 March and they will tell you which areas you will be voting in and where your polling station is located. 

If you don’t think you will be able to get to your polling station you can apply to vote by post. The deadline to submit an application is 5pm on Monday 15 April. 

If you currently vote by post the poll card will confirm the address your postal ballot will be sent to. 

You can appoint someone else to go to the polling station to vote on your behalf

If you currently vote by proxy the poll card will confirm the name of the person you have appointed as your proxy.
