1. About the Making Changes Study

The Making Changes study began in May 2023 with the aim of helping a selection of Teignbridge residents make changes to their lifestyle to save money, improve their health and fitness, and help them play their part in reducing the district’s carbon footprint.

Over nine months, participants attended workshops focussing on three key areas – Food and Home, Energy and Transport. They heard from experts on a range of relevant topics, listened to real life accounts, and discussed what changes they were considering making and the possible impact.

The final workshop brought all the participants together to celebrate their successes. We heard how residents had been composting scraps to help grow their vegetables, committing to only buying pre-loved clothes and adopting ‘heat the person not the room’ principles as well as many others.

The study has provided an invaluable insight and real examples of how small changes can make an impact and we are using these stories to encourage all residents to take steps to help reduce the district’s carbon footprint.

In response to the study, we have created the Teignbridge Climate Hub to provide ideas and suggestions on how residents can cut their cost of living, lead a healthier life, and reducing their carbon footprint.

See how the participants in the study have made changes, be inspired, share your stories, and get involved on the Teignbridge Climate Hub
