Energy savings for landlords

3. Help to Heat

The Energy Companies Obligation’s Help to Heat scheme is a government scheme funded by energy suppliers. This scheme is not run by the council but under the ECO Flexible Eligibility scheme the council declare that residents living in Teignbridge qualify to apply for this funding.

Under the Statement of Intent, below, ECO installers will be able to offer grants to install fully funded or subsidised energy saving measures to anyone in receipt of a qualifying benefit. Additionally using the Council's Statement of Intent ECO installers can offer grant assistance to residents who do not necessarily need to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit but who meet other criteria.

The installing company will do an initial survey to confirm what measures are needed. The ECO grant will be calculated and the amount will depend on the type of measures required and the energy characteristics of the property.  The installer will be upfront and clear on what is needed and the costs.

Grant assistance is subject to the property survey and is provided by the Energy Company, not the Council.

If the ECO grant does not cover all the costs, the installer may be able to advise on other options which may include help from the Council.
