New Household Support Fund payments

The Government has made more money available to local councils to provide further funding for households who might be struggling most with the increase in the cost of living. This Household Support Fund is a separate initiative to the Council Tax Energy Rebate scheme that we are also operating.

The initial round of funding will provide:

  • Free school meals throughout the holidays for households receiving free school meals provided by Devon County Council
  • A one off payment of £90 to householders in Devon of state pension age (as at qualifying date of 6 June 22) who are In receipt of council tax support.

The one-off payment of £90 will be in the form of a post office voucher which can be exchanged for cash and used to pay bills, for essential household items, clothing or any other costs or items. We will be writing to all eligible households to introduce this payment and explain how it will be sent. You do not need to contact us to receive this voucher, and you will not be asked for any personal or financial details.

Once these two cohorts have received their payment, we will open up the Household Support Fund for applications from other residents.

If you need urgent help with either prepayment meters or energy bills please get in touch with Citizens Advice who can offer you support.
