SPRinT - Supporting People Renting

SPRinT is a private rented access scheme which we operate to assist people into properties which are affordable, have been inspected to ensure that they have all the correct certifications, and are free from hazards.

How SPRinT can help:

Matching tenants and landlords

Efforts to boost the number of affordable homes available to rent in Teignbridge by people on low incomes or on benefits have been stepped up with the re-launch of a scheme designed to make it easier for private landlords to rent their properties.

Supporting People Renting in Teignbridge (SPRinT) is a free service which aims to pre-empt many of the challenges which can prevent properties in the private sector being made available for local residents.

Under the scheme we will identify suitable tenants and match them with landlords and their properties, checking the tenant’s eligibility and housing needs, assessing the amount of rent they can afford and making sure they have references and can pay a deposit.

Our staff will also conduct property inspections, inventory checks and tenancy reviews as well as advising landlords and tenants on any housing related issues. They will also keep in close contact with tenants and landlords throughout the tenancy to ensure that should any problems arise, they can be dealt with swiftly and effectively.

SPRinT has previously developed a successful track record of matching 'tenancy ready' clients with local landlords, offering peace of mind to both parties.

• To qualify for support, tenants need to be aged over 18, homeless or facing homelessness, with no history of rent arrears, nuisance or of property damage and working with the council’s Housing Solutions Team.
