A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) allows you to temporarily hold certain activities, either indoors or outdoors. These activities include:

Regulated entertainment (at specific times or audience sizes):

• • plays (between 11pm and 8am, or if more than 500 people are attending)
  • films
  • recorded music
  • indoor sporting events (between 11pm and 8am, or if more than 1,000 spectators)
  • live music
  • Boxing or wrestling
  • dance performances (between 11pm and 8am, or if more than 500 people are attending)

• Late night refreshments: Serving hot food or drinks between 11pm and 5am

• Alcohol sales: Selling alcohol to the public

• Alcohol supply: Providing alcohol at a club for members

Types of TEN:

• Standard TEN: Submit at least 10 working days before the event.
• Late TEN: Submit between 5 and 9 working days before the event.

The notice period doesn’t include the day we receive your application or the day of the event.

Limits on Serving Notices:

• Without a Personal Licence: You can submit up to 5 TENs per year, with a maximum of 2 being late TENs.
• With a Personal Licence: You can submit up to 50 TENs per year, with a maximum of 10 being late TENs.

Event Restrictions:

• Maximum events per premises: A venue can host up to 15 events per year, covering a total of no more than 21 days.
• Event duration: Each event can last up to 168 hours. There must be at least 24 hours between the end of one event and the start of another.

Eligibility

To submit a TEN, you must be at least 18 years old.

TENs can be applied for to permit the following temporary licensable activities;

• the sale by retail of alcohol
• the supply of alcohol by or on behalf of a club to, or to the order of, a member of the club
• the provision of regulated entertainment
• the provision of late night refreshment

Your event must not involve more than 499 people (this includes everyone at the event, including staff, entertainers, event organisers etc, as well as attendees)
