Transfer a premises licence
If the premises are being sold or transferred to a new owner, freeholder or leaseholder, before you can operate the business, the license must be transferred to your name or company. Consent to transfer needs to be submitted with the application form confirming the previous owner's consent to the transfer of the licence.
- You can request the transfer to take effect immediately so you can start operating once the business changes hands and we have received your application, fee and the previous owner's consent.
- The police and Home Office (Immigration) have 14 days to respond, from the date they receive the application and consent. If they don't then your licence will be completed and sent to you via email or in the post.
You must apply transfer the license within 28 days to keep it valid.
