4. Re-scoring animal welfare star rating
An animal welfare licence holder can request a re-inspection for the purposes of re-scoring if they have received a star rating of between 1 and 4 and made the necessary improvements to address non-compliances identified during the inspection.
A request can be made by email giving details of the actions taken to improve the level of compliance or welfare since the inspection and accompanied by any supporting information or documents to support your request.
Please also provide the name and address of the business and contact telephone number(s).
If there is insufficient evidence that the required improvements have been made, then your request may be refused on that basis.
A request for re-inspection must be accompanied by the relevant fee otherwise it will not be processed.
The inspection will be carried out within three months of receipt of the request and payment of the fee.
There is no limit to the number of re-inspections a business can request, but the fee is payable at for each visit requested.
Business operators should be aware that re-inspection for the purposes of re-rating could lead to a lower star rating being awarded rather than an increase in star rating.
