Dog breeding licence

1. About a dog breeding licence

You must have a licence if you are offering puppies for sale as this is considered as 'carrying on a business'. This is regardless of the numbers of litters as it is the sale element that is important.

You must have a licence if your dogs are producing more than four litters a year. This applies even if you are not selling the puppies. This is because you are breeding puppies at your premises.

An officer will visit you before the licence is issued.
