Street trading licence

We only deal with street trading licences for various streets in Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. 

Designated streets

There are only certain streets in which you are allowed to trade.

Newton Abbot consent streets

  • Newton Road
  • Kingsteignton Road
  • Jetty Marsh Road
  • The Avenue
  • Courtenay Street

From 1 August 2009

  • Union Street between Carlisle Street to Courtenay Street
  • Queen Street between King Street and Courtenay Street
  • East Street between Newfoundland Way and Bank Street
  • Wolborough Street between Courtenay Street and junction with Highweek Way and
    Newfoundland Way
  • whole of Bank Street
  • whole of Highweek Way and Market Square

Teignmouth licensed streets

  • Teign Street (including Pellew Arcade)
  • Bank Street
  • George Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Waterloo Street
  • The Triangle
  • Carlton Place
  • Northumberland Place

Teignmouth prohibited streets

  • The Point Car Park
  • The Strand
  • Powderham Terrace
  • Den Crescent
  • Den Promenade (including the carriageway and footway lying between the Den and the beach)
  • The Esplanade
  • Lifeboat Lane
  • Brunswick Street

In determining the application, consideration will be given on whether the trade being offered would enhance both the street scene and trading opportunities in the town.

The application will not be approved if it would be detrimental to existing traders.

An application is to be submitted a minimum of 28 days prior to the proposed commencement of the street trading dates required. This is to allow for consultation to take place.

Cost

  • Street Trading consent in Newton Abbot (7 days only) 
  • Street Trading licence in Teignmouth (annual)
