Lido to reopen for half term
It’s good news for outdoor swimmers and visitors in Teignmouth with Saturday 27 May pencilled in for the re-opening of the Lido pool.
Teignbridge Leisure aims to get the pool open for the May half term holiday and have in recent weeks been recruiting staff to run it. And for those who fancy working at the Lido over the summer months, there is still time to apply before the closing date of 2 May.
It’s been some time since local people have been able to enjoy the Lido as it was unable to open during the Covid pandemic and an £800,000 decarbonisation scheme took longer to complete last year than anticipated meaning that it didn’t reopen last summer.
When the doors open in May, swimmers and visitors will know that the lighting and heating systems are among the most eco-friendly of any pool. Cost savings from cutting out carbon energy means the Council can run it without facing the pressure of increased energy costs.
In addition to the 25-metre heated swimming pool, there are changing rooms with hot showers and toilets and lockers available. There's also a seating area for spectators and those who want to enjoy the summer sun as well as vending machines for drinks and snacks
And The Lido tries to cope for all needs, whether you want to splash around in the water with friends and family, take a leisurely swim or build up your stamina with lane swimming.
The daily opening times, pool timetable and charges are being finalised and will be announced shortly with details being added to Teignmouth Leisure website in the coming weeks.
For those who are already a Jam Packed Adult, Jam Packed Junior or Aquacize member with Teignbridge Leisure the Lido is included in their package at no extra cost.
