We stand with Ukraine

Flag raised above Forde House

The national flag of Ukraine has been raised above the Teignbridge District Council headquarters at Forde House, Newton Abbot, in solidarity with the people of Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

The flag was given to the Council by a local resident to fly as a sign of allegiance to Ukraine and to Ukrainian citizens living in Teignbridge.

Teignbridge Council Leader Alan Connett said: “On behalf of Teignbridge District, I want to express my shock and disbelief at the actions of the Russian Government towards the people of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the families, communities and the whole country, and with our Ukrainian residents and local communities that have connections with Ukraine.

“We stand alongside Ukraine against this unprovoked act of aggression and add our voices to the call for peace across the region.”
