1. What is a conservation area?

The aim of a Conservation Area is to preserve or enhance the character and appearance of an area of special architectural or historic interest. There are 35 Conservation Areas in Teignbridge.

The Conservation Areas vary considerably in size and character, many containing individual, groups and clusters of buildings 'listed' in their own right as being of special architectural and historic interest. However, it is the quality and interest of the areas as a whole that merits Conservation Area status.
