The Government requires all Local Authorities to publish an annual Brownfield Register of all identified Brownfield sites. Brownfield (or “previously developed”) land is defined in the National Planning Policy Framework NPPF
Status of sites
The Brownfield Register does not affect the status of sites that already have planning permission, are allocated for development in the Local Plan, or a 'made' Neighbourhood Development Plan.
The inclusion of other sites on the Brownfield Register does not give them any formal status, or grant permission in principle (PIP). Planning applications on these sites will be considered on their merits in accordance with the local plan, national policy and any other material considerations.
The register will be reviewed at least annually.
