8. Historic parks and gardens

Registered parks and gardens are nationally important and contribute to the high quality of the Teignbridge landscape. Our policies seek to protect the site and setting and to encourage appropriate management of these heritage assets. We have 9 parks and gardens on the register which is held by English Heritage:

  • Great Ambrook
  • Lindridge
  • Luscombe Castle
  • Mamhead Park
  • Oxton House
  • Powderham Castle
  • Stonelands House
  • Stover Park
  • Ugbrooke Park

We will consult English Heritage on development affecting Grade I & II* Registered Parks and Gardens.

We will consult the Gardens Trust and the Devon Gardens Trust on development affecting any Registered Park and Garden.

Both organisations provide a range of information and the Devon Gardens Trust produce the Gazetteer of Local Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest.
