7. What is Undeveloped Coast?

Undeveloped Coast is a local designation in the Teignbridge Local Plan 2013-2033 and the Submission Local Plan 2020-2040.

Distinctive coastal features include the red sandstone cliffs, rocky headlands and beaches along with the dune complex at Dawlish Warren and the Exe and Teign Estuaries.

The prime objective in these areas is to safeguard unspoilt stretches of the coastline.

The Local Plan 2020-2040 has updated the boundary of the Undeveloped Coast to reflect changes in Settlement Boundaries through the Undeveloped Coast Boundary Review 2023.
