Council owned properties and land

Online Asset Register

We hold and regularly update an online register of council owned land and building assets.

To identify an asset, either move around the map using the controls, or simply enter an asset name, location or postcode and select a property from the drop-down list. Building assets are shown in red, land assets in blue. More detailed instructions are available on the register by clicking help.

Click on the asset to view details and click again on the reference number for additional info.

Community Asset Transfer

Community Asset Transfer gives local people and community groups greater control in the future of their area and their community

It is the process through which a property asset (either freehold or leasehold) is transferred to a community or voluntary organisation at less than market value.

Our property

We have a dedicated department that works in partnership with  community groups on specific projects which meet our corporate objectives. These include:

  • property management including the management of public buildings
  • planned or reactive maintenance
  • feasibility schemes
  • capital projects
  • general estate management
  • town re-development
  • advice on dangerous structures or geological formations

We also undertake asset management on behalf of the council; this includes identifying options for the council, along with costs, for potential property investment and ownership.

If you feel a structure or wall is dangerous then please report it to the Economy and Assets Team
