Waste and recycling collections

We are currently experiencing delays on some of our rounds. If the whole street has been missed we will be aware and will return as soon as possible. Please leave the bins/containers out for collection.

Recycle your cardboard boxes

At Christmas in the UK we use enough corrugated cardboard to cover The Eden Project Biomes over 11,000 times.

How to recycle your cardboard packaging?

  1. remove any polystyrene or bubble wrap
  2. remove tape and collapse the box flat
  3. fold the box
  4. put it in your green recycling box, or take it to a cardboard recycling bank or the recycling centre

What to do if your cardboard boxes don't fit into you green box

Please do not leave large cardboard boxes next to your recycling. The cardboard compartment on our collection vehicles is limited in size and we are unable to collect large boxes from the kerbside

What to do with polystyrene, bubble wrap and other packaging

  • brown paper can be recycled with your cardboard in your green recycling box
  • polystyrene and bubble wrap are not recyclable and need to be put in your black wheeled bin with your general waste

What you can do to reduce your cardboard waste

  • buying online can result in the need for more packaging, buying local is likely to reduce the amount of packaging needed

What happens to your cardboard recycling

Your cardboard is sent to Kent or mainland Europe where it is made into pulp before being used to make new boxes and packaging. See this video of the paper and cardboard recycling process for further information.
