Around 1000 youngsters age 8 to 18 years, from across Devon and Cornwall competed in the South West Youth Games. Watched by Olympian Jemma Simpson, who represented Team GB in 800m at the 2008 Olympics and the World Championships and Commonwealth Games, participants took part in one of the largest community sporting celebrations in the County in over 20 different sports.
Teignbridge were 2nd overall and triumphed in the kwik cricket, badminton, high 5 netball and girls' rugby sevens.
The Games provide an inspirational Olympic type experience and a long term incentive for physical activity. Plans will soon commence for the 2018 games.
