11. The Ness

The Ness is a dramatic red sandstone headland at the mouth of the River Teign at Shaldon. It was planted with trees during the late nineteenth century, probably as a ceremonial planting in honour of Queen Victoria. The site provides stunning views of Shaldon, Teignmouth, the Teign Estuary and out to sea. The Ness is on the South West Coast Path and can also be reached from the large pay and display car park off Ness Drive.
