If you are registered to vote and cannot vote at your polling station, you can apply for a postal vote.
If you have a postal vote you won't be able to vote at the polling station, even if you do not use your postal vote.
You can apply for a postal vote up to 11 working days before an election.

You will need:
- the address where you are registered to vote
- your National Insurance number
Postal ballot packs will be sent to you before an election (usually eight working days before polling day). The ballot paper will be included with those cast at polling stations as long as we receive it before 10pm on polling day. Please bear the eight working days in mind, especially if you live overseas and want your ballot papers sent to you. You may want to appoint a proxy instead.
If you would prefer, you can complete a paper application by downloading or printing an application form.
When you have completed the form you will need to send it by email as a PDF attachment to email@example.com or by post to Electoral Services, Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot TQ12 4XX.
